Painter and eclectic artist, Stratolin was born in Milan (Italy) in 1973.

After studying Commercial Art, he works for some years as an illustrator, cover artist and satiric and underground cartoonist for different publishing houses in Italy..

Toward the end of the ‘90s, he starts a pictorial journey, influenced principally by Dubuffet’s Art Brut and later by expressionism. In 2002, Stratolin opens his first personal art exhibition, and in the same year he moves on to Barcelona, where he lives until 2006.

In the catalan city, together with pictorial research, the artist joins projects deriving from various situations, in which he concentrates his work not on the context of the artwork and artist, but instead on ordinary life. Among the most important, is Noes, artist for rent (2003/2004) a one year project where the author lives without money, bartering paintings and drawings to live and survuve, and “Wc-Art, contemporary art in public bathrooms” (since 2004), in Italy, Spain and Germany.

At the same time, he starts working on painting on glass, graphics and screen-printing, and he starts up a lot of painting laboratories called “The school of disorder”, and theorizes and applies “Urban Nomadism””, travelling around the city staying in several houses, documenting the journey through drawings and pilot. In 2004 he is the curator of the collective exhibition “Noes Poblenou, perceptions of an invasion”, dedicated to social and urban change in the Poblenou quarter .

In 2006, Stratolin moves on to Berlin, where he works on the pictorial project Art Report”, published in 2007 by the Italian publishing house Rizzoli. After this collaboration, he works on a new set of paintings and shrunken pictures, from which arises Crumpledexhibition displayed for the first time in 2008 as part of the collective art show “Junkbuilding” at the Triennale Bovisa in Milan.

He currently lives and paints in Spain.
